He normally walks every 3 days for ~20 minutes but has stopped in the last week due to his shortness of breath. Jay was admitted to the hospital 2 days ago and currently is experiencing shortness of breath at rest that worsens on exertion. He has pain and tightness in his chest that gets worse when sitting up for meals. He has green sputum and has an effective cough.
Is this referral appropriate? How would you determine if this patient was not suitable for physiotherapy?
